HackThePromise ideology

HackThePromise was born out of the belief that technology when used thoughtfully and collectively, can be a powerful catalyst for positive change. This conference was designed as a platform for tech enthusiasts, modern media researchers, and social entrepreneurs to come together and understand how technology can be used to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.

The conference was based on several key principles:

Innovation through collaboration: HackThePromise fosters an environment where interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged. It recognizes that solving complex problems often requires input from experts from different fields.

Social Impact: a central theme of HackThePromise is to explore how technology can be used to create positive social impact. Participants are strongly encouraged to consider the ethical dimensions of their innovations.

Inclusivity: the conference invites participants from different environments and industries. Diversity of viewpoints is seen as a driving force for innovation.

Presentation by diva.exchange: Free banking technology for everyone and how could everyone earn an income?

The diva.exchange association participated in the conference and presented on the future of digital finance. Obviously, digital values have become dense and some of them have great scientific and/or practical value (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero…). But is the existence of cryptocurrencies and the existing systems that enable their circulation the ultimate and highest point of digital finance? The answer is simple, although it does not lie on the surface: there is a need for truly distributed, consistently privacy-protecting, system-independent, and at the same time cross-system trading systems that, like the underlying systems, function stably without centralized management bodies.

Such an environment is developed by diva.exchange: DIVA – free (open source) software – is presented as a complete and real distributed system on individual nodes by unknown beings or bots.

DIVA uses I2P technology, which is a software layer (“overlay”) that utilizes the existing Internet to connect between nodes. A number of media outlets refer to I2P as the “darknet”. That said, the I2P network has been around for over 20 years and is reliable. A key characteristic of I2P is privacy: all messages in I2P are encrypted multiple times (multiple layers that are individually separated by routers). Messages move across the network through multiple I2P nodes, thus hiding their origins and destinations – this is the “anonymity” of I2P.

DIVA uses the DIVAchain blockchain (DIVAchain is an open-source blockchain) as the underlying data storage tool in its distributed system. DIVAchain uses a further development of the “practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (pBFT)” method as a consensus algorithm.

Green Network

In the context of the green economy, we note that the DIVA algorithm requires virtually no computing power and is not a “token/coin”. Unlike the most widespread cryptocurrencies of today, the generation of which requires significant energy costs, the distributed nature of DIVAchain consumes a minimal amount of electricity (fun fact – no more than 35 kWh of electricity is required – so much is needed to run a coffee maker three times a week).

The energy efficiency of the DIVA network removes the limits imposed by expensive energy resources – it is now possible for participants worldwide to join, not just from regions where energy resources are cheap.
